About Us

Globally, 5.1 billion people lack adequate access to justice. Specifically, in Kenya, 63% of adults—2 in every 3—have encountered formalistic and difficult-to-understand legal procedures. Moreover, in Nairobi alone, 3 to 4 million Kenyans have experienced a legal problem in the last four years.

Consequently, as a contribution to the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 10 and 16, Nairobi Legal Insights (NLI) operates as a social justice project that uses technology to bridge the gap between laypeople and lawyers.

Furthermore, we provide simplified legal content in a layperson’s language, aiming to empower the poor and underprivileged and protect them from potential legal liability.

Additionally, over the past two years, we have significantly impacted over 5,000 people through our legal education efforts.”

What makes us great?

We exemplify equity and inclusion in the legal profession by ‘Breaking the Wall of Access to Justice.’

This achievement is realized by ensuring that the underprivileged, laypeople, persons with disabilities, and non-lawyers in our community have access to simplified legal information. Consequently, this empowers them to avoid potential legal liabilities and become aware of their existing rights and freedoms.

Furthermore, this approach fosters equity in access to legal education and empowerment, leveling the playing field between the poor and rich, and giving them an equal platform for access to justice.

Unlike most online platforms focused on providing legal information primarily for lawyers, Nairobi Legal Insights strives to deliver legal content in a language that a layperson can understand. This not only protects individuals from potential legal liabilities but also empowers them by enabling a comprehensive understanding of their legal rights.
